Kobe Bryant has been playing in a charity basketball game over the weekend while visiting Shanghai, China ... and he has managed to accumulate points in only 68 minutes 15!
That's what Kobe posted to his Facebook page after Saturday's match (18 August):
Sprite China 2° charity basketball game annual was a lot of fun. We played two halves with a 15 min running clock. Watched from the bench for the first half. We were trailing by 9 when it was reported that fans via text can pick a team to add 20 additional points for their booty!!! We were now down 29!!
I wanted to play it cool, but what the heck, the place was full of fans who would sing a early happy birthday to me and really wanted to watch me go to work. My teammates were down. Are all the singers/actors and not playing ball much at all, but are very successful at what they do, so I'm very competitive. They asked if I could bring them back in the second half ...
I didn't want to disappoint them or the fans who had paid their hard earned money for a show, so I took the challenge to use really the second half as a training session for my resistance. I ran and ran and ran. I wound up scoring 68 in the 2° and we won. As I said, there are no basketball players by any stretch of the imagination. I just was having a great time with all of them and loved hearing the crowd to enjoy the show we put on.
They performed some of their hits number 1. We took photos and signed autographs. I think we raised 2.6 MM RMB for disadvantaged young people here in China! This is the most important of the night. Sprite, one of my sponsors, hosted the game. They carry a great message of self-expression: don't be afraid to be who you are — making sure that you will find your own path and your greatness, how do you define.
Here's my pic with Jay Chou. For those who may not know that is a huge star in China and we have made several China-based spot and events together. He is the beast of his field.
Tomorrow is my last day in China, then returning home for some much needed rest:-)
With love. Mamba.
